Crochet shell stitch hats and scarves using worsted weight yarn for everyone in your family.  Easy to follow crochet pattern is for sizes infant, child and teen but if you use bulky weight yarn or heavier yarns and a larger crochet hook, this pattern would work for adult sizes.

The puff shell stitch is one of my favorite stitches.  The stitch is created by working the five double crochet shells into the back loop of the single crochet stitch and the single crochet stitches into both loops of the center double crochet stitch.  This technique causes the shell to puff out.

When my daughter Allison was young, I designed the Puff Shell Coat and Purse for her:

Now I have designed the Puff Shell Hat and Scarf for her daughter (my granddaughter) Ruthie.
