Size: Misses S-L – 40" around x 20" long, Womens 1X-3X – 45" around x 26" long
Note: The Directions are written for Misses size, with changes for larger size in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to both sizes.
Copper – 7 (10 ½) oz, 326 (494) yds, [196 (294) grams, 260 (395) meters]
Yarn Needle
Caron® Bliss was used for our model.
Crochet Hook: Size K-10 ½ (6.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 3 shells = 4" & 2 shell rows = 3"
Gauge Swatch: 4" x 4"
Row 1: Ch 11, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 dc)
Rows 2-5: Ch 3, turn, dc in next dc and in each dc across. (9 dc) Finish off.
Note: If your swatch is larger or smaller than specified, make another, changing hook size to get the correct gauge. If your swatch is too small, use a larger hook. If your swatch is too large, use a smaller hook. Keep trying until you find the size hook that will give you the specified gauge.

JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
Directions
Row 1: Ch 6, sl st in first ch to form a ring, ch 3, 5 dc in ring (shell made), mark first shell as the right side, ch 4, turn, sl st in center dc of previous shell, ch 2, mark first ch of ch-2, turn, shell in ch-4 sp, turn, * ch 4, turn, sl st in center dc of previous shell, ch 2, turn, shell in ch-4 sp, turn, rep from * 12 (16) times more. [14 (18) shells] Finish off.
Row 2: Ch 3, with right side facing, join with a sl st in marked ch, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form a ring, ch 2, shell in ring, sl st in 2nd dc of adjacent shell of previous row, * ch 4, turn, sl st in center dc of previous shell, ch 2, turn, shell in ch-4 sp, sl st in 2nd dc of adjacent shell of previous row, rep from * 12 (16) times more. [14 (18) shells]
Row 3: Turn, sl st over to ch-2; working across sides of shells, * ch 7, sl st in 2nd ch of ch-2 of next shell, rep from * across, ch 7, sl st in first ch of same ch-2. [14 (18) ch-7 sps]
Rows 4-6: Turn, sl st over to 4th ch of last ch-7, (ch 7, sl st in next ch-7 sp) across, ch 7, sl st in first ch of same ch-7 sp. [14 (18) ch-7 sps] At the end of Row 6, finish off.
Row 7:Ch 3, with right side facing, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of first ch-7 sp, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form a ring, ch 2, mark first ch of ch-2, shell in ring, sl st in same ch-7 sp, * ch 4, turn, sl st in center dc of last shell, ch 2, turn, shell in ch-4 sp, sl st in next ch-7 sp, rep from * 12 (16) times more. [14 (18) shells] Finish off.
Rows 8-26 (28): Rep Patterns Rows 2-7 three (five) times and Row 2 once. Do not finish off.
Edging
Rnd 1: Do not turn, ch 1, working along edges of rows, sc in same st as sl st, sc in next 3 dc, * 5 sc in next 2 ch sps, dc in next 5 dc, dc in next 4 dc *, rep * to * across; ** working along edges of shell of Row 1, 2 sc in side of each shell and 1 sc in each ch ring across **; working along edges of rows, sc in next 5 dc, sc in next 4 dc, rep * to * across; rep ** to **, sc in last 5 dc; join with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining and in each sc around. Finish off leaving long end.
Rose
Rnd 1: Leaving long end on starting ch, ch 2, (sc, ch 2) 7 times in 2nd ch from hook, (7 sc)
Rnd 2: Sl st in next ch-2 sp, * ch 2, 5 dc in same sp, sl st in next ch-2 sp, rep from * around, ending with a sl st in first ch-2 sp. (7 petals dc)
Rnd 3: Working behind petals, (ch 4, sl st in next sl st) 7 times. (7 ch-4 sps)
Rnd 4: Sl st in next ch-4 sp, * ch 2, 8 dc in same sp, sl st in next ch-4 sp, rep from * around, ending with a sl st in first ch-4 sp. (7 petals) Finish off.
Finishing
Using long end of Edging and Yarn Neelde, and using Fig. 1 as a guide, sew seam running 4" from corner. Using long end of Rose, sew Rose to center of 4" seam. Weave in ends.
