MATERIALS

Premier® Yarns Raffia (100% cellulose rayon; 1.23 oz/35gm, 87 yds/80 m)

  • #99-01 Azurite – 5 balls

Hook: US Size F-5 (3.75 mm) & H-8 (5mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions: Tapestry needle, removable stitch marker, 54" long plastic millinery wire (or similar)

 

GAUGE

15 hdc x 12 rows = 4" with larger hook

22 dc x 11 rows = 4" with smaller hook

HAT

With larger hook, ch 6, sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1: (RS) Ch 1, 12 hdc in ring – 12 hdc. Place a removable stitch marker in the last hdc, move up each rnd to mark last st, working in a spiral.

Rnd 2: [2 Hdc in each hdc] around – 24 hdc.

Rnd 3: [2 Hdc in next hdc, hdc in next hdc] around – 36 hdc.

Rnd 4: [2 Hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 3 hdc] around – 45 hdc.

Rnd 5: [2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 4 hdc] – 54 hdc.

Rnd 6: [2 Hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 5 hdc] – 63 hdc.

Rnd 7: [2 Hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 6 hdc] – 72 hdc.

Rnd 8: [2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 11 hdc] around – 78 hdc.

Rnd 9: [2 Hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 12 hdc] – 84 hdc.

Rnds 10-22: Hdc in each hdc around.

At the end of Rnd 22, do not fasten off.

 

Brim

Rnd 23: With smaller hook, continue working in spiral, [2 dc in next hdc] around – 168 dc.

Rnd 24: [2 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc] around – 192 dc.

Rnd 25-32: Dc in each dc around.

Rnds 33-35: Sc in each st around.

Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Weave in ends.

Thread wire through last round and secure.
