MORNING GLORY

Skill Level - Easy

Size: Varies depending upon yarn and hook size


Materials: This pattern can be worked in any thread or yarn. Thread or fine yarn will produce smaller flowers; thicker yarns will produce larger flowers. Yardage will vary depending on the material used.

In the video, we used Aqua for the flower and Green for the leaves.

Crochet Hook: Hook size will vary depending on the yarn chosen for the project.

In the video, we used worsted weight cotton yarn and a size H-8 hook.

 

Abbreviations

ch - chain

sc - single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

dc - double crochet

lp - loop

sl st - slip stitch

st - stitch

yo – yarn over

 

Special Stitch

Treble Crochet (tr) – yo twice, insert hook in st indicated, you and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times.

 

FLOWER

With Petal Color, ch 4.

Row 1: Dc in fourth ch from hook (3 skipped count as first dc): 2 dc.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn; dc in first dc, 2 dc in last dc: 4 dc.

Rows 3 and 4: Ch 3, turn; dc in first dc and in each dc across to last dc, 2 dc in last dc: 6 dc, 8 dc.

Row 5: Ch 3, turn; dc in next dc and in each dc across; do not finish off .

 

RUFFLE

Rnd 1: Ch 8, turn; slip st in first dc of Row 5 to form a ring, ch 2 (counts as first hdc), turn; (2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next ch) 4 times, 2 hdc in next st, (hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st) 3 times; join with slip st to first hdc: 24 hdc.

Rnd 2: Ch 4, skip next hdc, * slip st in next hdc, ch 4, skip next hdc; repeat from* around; join with slip st at base of first ch-4, finish off leaving a long end for sewing.

Fold half of Ruffle down over first 5 rows of Flower. With White and using photo as a guide for placement, embroider straight accent lines on Flower.

 

LEAF

With Green, ch 8.

Slip st in second ch from hook and in next ch, sc in next ch, dc in next 2 chs, tr in next ch, (4 tr, dc, sc, dc, 4 tr) in last ch; working in free loops of ch, tr in next ch, dc in next 2 chs, sc in next ch, slip st in next ch; finish off leaving a long end for sewing.

Sew leaves onto flowers – if desired, created a stem with Green by making a chain of any length.
