AFGHAN
Snowflake Block (Make 20)
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, with A, ch8, join with slst to first ch to form ring; ch3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), 23dc in ring; join with slst to first dc (3rd ch of ch-3). (24dc)
Rnd 2: Ch3, (dc, ch2, 2dc) in same st as joining (first shell made), skip next 2 dc, [shell in next dc, skip next 2 dc] around; join as before. (8 shells)
Rnd 3: Slst to first ch-2sp, ch3, (dc, ch2, 2dc) in same sp, ch2, [shell in next shell-sp, ch2] around; join as before.
Rnd 4: Slst to first ch-2sp, ch3 (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in same sp, ch2, shell#1 in next shell-sp, ch3, [shell#1 in next shell-sp, ch2, shell#1 in next shell-sp, ch3] around; join as before. Finish off and weave in ends.
Rnd 5: With right side facing, join B (D) with sc to first shell-sp, **2sc in same sp, sc in each of next 3 dc, sc in next ch-2sp, *ch2, sc in ch-2sp on Rnd 3 (two rows below), ch2, sc in corresponding sp between shells on Rnd 2, ch2, sc in same ch-2sp on Rnd 3, ch2*, sc in same ch-2sp on Rnd 4, sc in each of next 3 dc on Rnd 4, 3sc in next ch-2sp, sc in each of next 3 dc, sc in next ch-3sp, rep from *to* once, sc in ch-3sp on Rnd 4, sc in each of next 3 dc, sc in next sp**; rep from **to** around; join with slst to first sc.

Rnd 8: Ch3, [dc in next dc] around, working shell#2 in each corner ch-3sp; join with slst to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Assembly – use photo as guide
With right sides facing, using C (D) and yarn needle, whip-stitch Blocks together through back loops only, matching sts and corners to form Afghan 4 Blocks wide by 5 Blocks long.
Border
With right side of Afghan facing, join C (D) with slst to any corner ch-3sp, ch3, (dc, ch3, 2dc) in same sp, *dc in each of next 27 dc, [dc in sp before join of next 2 Blocks, dc in join, dc in corner sp of next Block, dc in each of next 27 dc] across to next corner, shell#2 in next corner sp; rep from * around, omitting last shell on final repeat; join with slst to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.
PILLOW
Make 2 Snowflake Blocks.
Pillow Border
Rnd 1: Holding both Snowflake Blocks with wrong sides together (right sides facing), matching stitches and shaping, working through both thicknesses, join C (D) with slst to any corner ch-2sp, ch5 (counts as first dc and ch-2), 2dc in same sp, *[dc in next dc] across to next corner, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in corner
ch-2sp; rep from * once more (3 sides complete), working in single thickness only of front-facing Block, [dc in next dc] across last side, dc in first corner
ch-2sp; join with slst to first dc (3rd ch of ch-3). (Three sides joined, one side open for inserting pillow form.)
Rnd 2: Slst in ch-2sp, ch5, 2dc in same sp, [dc in next dc] around, working (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in each corner ch-2sp, ending with dc in first corner ch-2sp; join with slst to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Insert Pillow Form. If desired, using C (D) and yarn needle, sew fourth side closed.
