 CHRISTMAS BIBS

Easy Skill

Size: About 9½ inches wide and 10 inches long

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn: White, Red and Green.

Crochet Hook:Size H-8 (5.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 8 dc = 2", 5 rows dc = 2 inches
 

Abbreviations
beg - beginning
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
lp - loop
rem - remaining
rep - repeat
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sp - space
st - stitch
tr - treble crochet
yo - yarn over

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Picot:Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.

BIB

Row 1:(Right Side) Starting at bottom, with White, ch 36, dc in 3rd ch from hook, (dc in next ch) across. (34 dc)

Rows 2-18:Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn, (dc in next dc) across. (34 dc)

DO NOT FINISH OFF.


Left Shoulder
Row 19:Ch 3, turn, dc in next 9 dc. (10 dc) Leave remaining sts unworked.
Rows 20-21:Ch 3, turn, (dc in next dc) across. (10 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.
 
Right Shoulder
Row 19:Working in Row 18, skip next 14 dc, join White with sl st to next dc, ch 3, (dc in next dc) across. (10 dc)
Rows 20-21:Ch 3, turn, (dc in next dc) across. (10 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Border
Rnd 1:With right side facing, join G with sl st to first dc of Right Shoulder Row 21, (skip next dc, 5 dc in next dc, skip next dc, sl st in next dc) twice, skip next dc, 5 dc in last dc; working in sides of rows, sl st in first row, (5 dc in next row, sl st in next row) 10 times; working in unused lps of starting ch on other side, continue in patterns, working around edge of Bib; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Ties
(Make 2)
With right side facing, join Green with sl st to inner top of shoulder, ch 40, sl st in each ch across; join. Finish off and weave in ends. Repeat on other side.
 
Holly Berry
(Make 2)
Rnd 1:(Right Side) Starting at center, with Red, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
 
Holly Leaves
Row 1:With right side of Berry facing, join G with sl st to first sc, * (picot) 4 times, sl st in same ch as 2nd picot made, picot, sl st in same ch as 1st picot made, sl st in same sc, sl st in next sc; rep from * twice, omitting final sl st in last repeat. (3 Leaves) Finish off and weave in ends.
Repeat with other Berry.

Candy Canes
(Make 2)
Row 1: With R, ch 23, ch 3 (counts as first dc) dc in 4th ch from hook, drop R and change to W; * with W, dc in next 2 ch, drop W, change to R; with R, dc in next 2 ch, drop R, and change to W *; rep * to * once more; ** with W, work 2 dc in next ch, drop W, change to R, with R, work 2 dc in next ch, drop R, change to W **; rep ** to ** 3 times more, with W, work 2 dc in next ch, finish off W, change to R, with R, work 2 dc in last ch. (30 dc) DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging for RHS
Rnd 1:Ch 1, DO NOT TURN, sl st along side of last dc worked, in unused lps of starting ch, along side of first dc and in each dc around outside edge; join with a sl st to beginning ch-1. Finish off and weave in ends.
 
Edging for LHS
Rnd 1:Ch 1, TURN, sl st in each dc around outside edge and in unused lps of starting ch; join with a sl st to beginning ch-1. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

Assembly

Using photo as a guide:
- With right side facing, position Candy Canes to form a heart and sew in place.
- Position and sew Holly in each corner.
