Halloween Ghosts

Easy Skill

Size:

Large Ghost -About 3½” tall and 3” wide at bottom.

Small Ghost - About 2½” tall and 2” wide at bottom

Materials: Crochet Cotton Thread Size 10 - White & Black.

Crochet Hook:Steel crochet hook # 7

Gauge: 8 sc and 8 rnds = 1 inch.

Abbreviations

beg - beginning

ch - chain

CC - contrasting color

dc - double crochet

hdc - half double crochet

lp - loop

MC - main color

rem - remaining

rep - repeat

rnd - round

sc - single crochet

sl st - slip stitch

sp - space

st - stitch

tr - treble crochet

yo - yarn over

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

LARGE GHOST

Rnd 1: With white ch 2, work 6 sc in first ch (6 sc).

Do not join any rounds. Mark end of each round with contrasting thread or a stitch marker, move marker each round.

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around (12 sc).

Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc)around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc)around. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc)around. (30 sc)

Work even on 30 sts until piece measures 3-in.

Next Rnd: Inc 6 sc evenly spaced working in sc around—36 sts.

Work next 2 rnds even.

Scallop Rnd: * Skip 1 sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip 1 sc,sI st in next sc, rep from *around to end, sl stin first st. Finish off. (9 Scallops)

Eyes:

With black crochet cotton thread and size 7 steel crochet hook, ch I (center ch), ch 3, keeping last lp of each st on hook, work 3 dc in center ch, yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook. Finish off leaving long end for sewing onto ghost. Weave in short ends. Sew eyes in place. Refer to photograph.

SMALL GHOST

Rnds 1-4: Repeat Rounds 1-4 of Large Ghost.

Work even on 24 sts until piece measures 2-in.

Next Rnd: Increase 8 sc evenly spaced working in sc around—32 sc. Work next 2 rnds even.

Scallop Rnd: * Skip 1 sc. 5 dc in next sc, skip 1 sc,sI st in next sc, rep from *around to end, sl stin first st. Finish off. (8 scallops)

Eyes: Repeat Eyes and Finishing form Large Ghost.
