Free Apple Chalkboard Pattern

Beginner Skill

Size: 12” wide x 15” tall.

Materials:Worsted Weight Yarn;

Red (R) - 3 oz, 165 yd (84 g, 149 m);

Small amounts of Green (G) and Tan (T);

Craft or Hot Glue; Yarn Needle;

Chalkboard 11 ½” x 8 ¾”. 

Crochet Hook:Size I-9 (5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: Rnd 1 should be slightly smaller than the outside of your chalkboard.

Ruffle

Rnd 1:With R, ch 110, being careful not to twist chain, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 5 dc in same ch as joining, * dc in next 22 ch, 6 dc in next ch, dc in next 31 ch *, 6 dc in next ch; rep from

* to * once; join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 2:Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), (dc in next dc, ch 1) around; join with sl st in first dc. (130 dc)

Rnd 3:Ch 3, picot, (dc in next dc, picot) around; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Apple

Row 1:With R, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (5 sc) CH 1, TURN EACH ROW.

Rows 2-3:2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to last, 2 sc in last sc.

(At the end of Row 3, 9 sc)

Rows 4-7:Sc in each sc across.

Row 8:Sc dec, sc in next 5 sc, sc dec.

(7 sc)

Rnd 1:Sc in first sc, 2 dc in next sc, sc in next sc, sl st in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc, sc in next sc; * working in ends of rows, sl st evenly spaced along side of Apple *; working in unused lps of starting ch, sl st in first ch, 2 sc in next ch, sl st in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, sl st in next ch; rep from * to *; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends. 

Stem

With right side facing, join T in center top sl st of Apple, ch 3, tr in same st. Finish off.

Leaf

With G, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook,

dc in next 3 ch, (sc, ch 1, sc) in last ch, working around other side in unused lps of starting ch, dc in next 3 ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next ch. Finish off and weave in ends. 

Finishing

- Glue right side of Ruffle to back edge of Chalkboard.

- Glue apple to lower corner.

- Glue leaf to apple.
