Wagon Wheels Afghan

Easy Skill

Size:About 52" wide by 76" long.

Materials:Worsted Weight Yarn:
Off-White - 20 oz;
Daffodil - 8 oz;
Carnation, Carrot, Black, Azure, Sapphire, Coral, Spring, Chocolate and Plum - 4 oz each.

Crochet Hook:Size H-8 or I-9 (5.00 mm or 5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: For each hexagon: Width (from point to point) = 4"; Length (from straight edge to straight edge) = 3½"

JOINING WITH SC\
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

TO CHANGE COLORS
Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color yo and pull new color through remaining loops on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

BASIC MOTIF

Note: Both rounds are worked in the same color.

Rnd 1:(Right Side) Starting at center, ch 6, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 6 (counts as first tr and ch 2), (tr in ring, ch 2) 11 times; join with sl st to first tr. (12 tr, 12 ch-2 sps)
Rnd 2:Sl st to ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as first dc), (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp; rep from * 4 times more; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Using Basic Motif instructions, make the following:

Off- White - 142

Daffodil - 39

Carnation - 32

Carrot - 26

Black - 2

Azure - 8

Sapphire - 16

Coral - 27

Spring - 23

Chocolate - 15

Plum - 19

 

Finishing - use photo and diagram as guide.

- When all Motifs are complete, lay them out on a large flat surface, arranging colors as per chart.

- Using matching color yarn, sew each full and half flower together, around the centers.

- Using Off-White yarn, sew all the background motif together, then sew the flowers into the background.
