Materials:Yarn Needle; Worsted Weight Yarn:
Off-White (MC) - 25 oz, 1860 yd
Rosewine (A) - 12.5 oz, 930 yd
Teal Green (B) - 12.5 oz, 930 yd
Caron Dawn Sayelle used for model

 

Crochet Hook:Size J-10 (6.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

 

Gauge:7 dc = 2"

Each Large Square measures 10" square and 13" from corner to corner.

JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

TO CHANGE COLORS
Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color yo and pull new color through remaining loops on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

Afghan

Large Squares(Make 32)
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, with A, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 2, [(2tr, sl st)in ring] 4 times. (4 petals) DO NOT TURN.
Rnd 2: Working behind petals, (ch 2, sl st in sl st between next 2 petals) 4 times. (4 ch-2 lps)
Rnd 3: *Sl st in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, (3tr, sl st, ch 2, 3tr, sl st) in same ch-2 sp, rep from * around; join with sl st to first ch-2 sp. (8 petals)
Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 2. (8 ch-2 lps)
Rnd 5:* Sl st in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, (4tr, sl st) in same ch-2 sp, rep from * around; join with sl st to first ch-2 sp. (8 petals)
Rnd 6:
Working behind petals, (ch 3, sl st in sl st between next 2 petals) 8 times. (8 ch-3 lps) Finish off.
Rnd 7: With right side facing, join MC to any ch-3 lp, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), (4dc, ch 2, 5dc) in same lp, 3dc in next lp, * (5dc, ch 2, 5dc) in next lp, 3dc in next lp, rep from * around, join with sl st to first dc. DO NOT TURN EACH RND. (52 dc)
Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in next dc around, working (2dc, ch 2, 2dc) in each corner ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first dc. (68 dc)
Rnd 9: Sl st in next dc, ch 4 (counts as dc and ch 1), (skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1) around, working (dc, ch 3, dc, ch 1) in each corner ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first dc. (40 dc)
Rnd 8: Ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 1, (dc in next dc, ch 1) around, working (dc, ch 2, dc, ch 1) in each corner ch-3 sp; join with sl st to first dc. (48 dc)
Rnd 9: Sl st in ch-1 sp, ch 3, dc in same sp, 2 dc in each ch-1 sp across, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first dc. (104 dc) Finish off.
Rnd 10: With right side facing, join B to any corner ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 sc in same sp, sc in each dc around, working (3 sc) in each corner ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off leaving long end.

Small Motif Directions (Make 14)
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, with MC, ch 1 (center ch), ch 4 (counts as dc and ch 1), (dc, ch 1) 7 times in center ch; join with sl st to first dc. DO NOT TURN EACH RND. (8 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 6 (counts as dc and ch 3), dc in same st as joining, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, * (dc, ch 3, dc) in next dc, ch 1, dc, in next dc,ch 1, rep from * around, join with sl st to first dc. (12 dc)
Rnd 3: Sl st in ch-3 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, 2 dc in each ch-1 sp across, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner, 2 dc in each ch-1 sp across, rep from * around; join with sl st to first dc. (32 dc) Finish off.
Rnd 4: With right side facing, join B to any corner ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 sc in same sp, sc in each dc around, working (3 sc) in each corner ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off leaving long end. (44 sc)

Leaves: (Make 64)
With G, ch 10, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next ch, * hdc in next ch, dc in each of next 3 ch, hdc in next ch,* (sc, ch 1, sc) in end ch, around other side; rep from * to * once, sc in next ch, sl st in next ch. Finish off leaving long end.

Finishing:
Using long ends and yarn needle, sew leaves to sides of flower.
Using the photograph as a guide, with a yarn needle and B, sew squares together. Using long ends, sew Small Motifs between Squares.

Tassels (Make 14)

Cut a piece of cardboard 3" wide x 6" long. Wind double strand of B around cardboard 10 times.

Cut an 18" piece of yarn and insert one end under all of the strands at the top of the cardboard; pull up tightly and tie securely.

Take yarn off cardboard. Sew tassel to end of afghan. One inch below top, wrap yarn around tassel; tie securely. Cut the yarn at opposite end of tassel.
