Poinsettias Bouquet

Size:Finished Flower = 4" across.

Materials:  Crochet Cotton Thread, size 10

   Red – 40 yds (36 meters)

   Green – 8 yds (8 meters)

Stamen, Floral Tape, 22 gauge Stem Wire, Sewing Needle, Hot or Craft Glue.

Crochet Hook: Steel #7 (1.65 mm)

Abbreviations

ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hook.

htr:YO hook twice, insert hook in st, draw up a lp,

YO and draw through 2 lps on hook, YO and

draw through 3 lps on hook.

Petals(Make 5 each flower)

Rnd 1:Ch 16,  sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 5 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, dc in next 3 ch, htr in next 2 ch, 9 tr in last ch, around other side, htr in next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, sc in next 6 ch.  Do not turn each Rnd.

Rnd 2:Ch 1, sl st in side of last sc worked, sl st in first sc of Rnd 1, ch 1, sc in same st and in next 6 sts, (ch 3, skip next st, sc in next st)  4 times, (ch 3, sc in next st) 8 times, (ch 3, skip next st, sc in next st) 4 times, sc in next 6 sts.(16 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 3:Working along sides of rows, sl st in side of sc last worked, sl st in next 2 sl sts, sl st in side of next sc, sl st in first sc of Rnd 2, ch 1, sc in same st and in next 6 sts, ch 1, sc in next ch-3 sp, (ch 1, picot, ch 1, sc in next sp) 15 times, ch 1, sc in next 7 sc, sl st in next st. Fasten off and weave in ends. (15 picots)

Leaves(Make 1 each flower)

Rnd 1:With Green, ch 15, sl st in 2nd ch from hook,

* sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 8 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch *, (sl st, ch 2, sl st) in last ch, around other side; rep * to * once, sl st in last ch, ch 2; join with sl st in first sl st of this Rnd.

Rnd 2:Sc in next sc, dc in next hdc, * (2 dc, picot 2 dc) in next dc (shell made), dc in next dc, sc in next dc, sl st in next dc, sc in next dc, dc in next dc *, shell in next dc, dc in next dc, hdc in next hdc, sc in next sc, shell in next ch-2 sp, around other side, sc in next sc, hdc in next hdc, dc in next dc; rep * to * once, shell in next dc, dc in next hdc, sc in next sc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp (leaf base); join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing

Cut each wire in half. Weave one wire through center of each leaf and petal. Fold end of wire over 1".  Holding right sides of 5 Petals tightly together wrap lower 1/2" of petal bases and wires several times with Floral Tape. Continue wrapping Stem adding one leaf about 1" down from bottom of flower. Hold 2 stamens together and fold in half. Push folded end of stamens into center of petals.  Secure with glue.
