Easy Skill

Size:45" x 60".

Materials:Yarn Needle; Worsted Weight Yarn; Black (B) - 36 oz, 1980 yd (1008 g, 1782 m);
Grass Green (G) - 3 oz, 165 yd (84 g, 149 m); 

Sport Weight Yarn;
White (W) - 2 oz, 144 yd (56 g, 130 m);
Small amount Black Crochet Cotton.

Crochet Hook: Size J-10 (6.00 mm) for Afghan,

I-9 (5.50 mm) for Border and Leaves, and

F-5 (3.75 mm) for Bells or sizes needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: With J hook, 12 dc and 7 rows = 4".

JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

V-Stitch (v-st):(Dc, ch 2, dc) in same st or sp.

Picot V-st:(Dc, ch 4, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, dc) in same st or sp.

Side Panels(Make 2)
Row 1(Right Side): With largest hook and B, ch 43, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. (41 dc) CH 3 (counts as first dc throughout), TURN EACH ROW.
Rows 2-33:Dc in each st across.
Row 34:Skip next st, * v-st in next st, skip 2 sts; rep from * across to last 2 sts, skip next st, dc in last st. (13 v-sts)
Rows 35-66:V-st in each v-st across, dc in last dc.
Row 67:Dc in each ch-2 sp and dc across.(41 dc)
Rows 68-99:Dc in each st across.

At the end of Row 99, finish off and weave in ends.

Center Panel( Make 1)
Row 1(Right Side): With largest hook and B, ch 43, v-st in 5th ch from hook, (skip 2 ch, v-st in next ch) across to last 2 chs, skip next ch, dc in last ch. (13 v-sts) CH 3, TURN EACH ROW.
Rows 2-33:Rep Side Panel Rows 35-66.
Rows 34:Rep Side Panel Row 67.
Rows 35-66:Dc in each st across.
Row 67:Rep Side Panel Row 34.
Rows 68-99:Rep Side Panel Rows 35-66.

At the end of Row 99, finish off and weave in ends.

Finishing
With right sides together, sew sides of Panels together making sure v-sts face up.

Border
Rnd 1:
Using middle hook, join B with sl st to any st, ch 3, being careful to keep work flat, dc evenly spaced around outside of Afghan, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner; join with sl st to first dc.
Rnd 2:Ch 3, dc in each st around working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner; join.
Rnd 3:Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), dc in same st as joining, * skip 2 sts, v-st in next st, rep from* around working (v-st, ch 2, v-st) in each corner; join with sl st to first dc.
Rnd 4:Sl st in ch-2 sp (center of V-st), ch 7,sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, dc in same sp, picot v-st in each v-st to corner, work (picot v-st, ch 2, picot v-st) in corner ch-2 sp; rep from * around; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-7. Finish off and weave in ends.

Leaves(Make 10)
Rnd 1:With middle hook and G, ch 30, dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 20 ch, sc in next 5 ch, (sc, ch 2, sc) in last ch (this is tip of Leaf); working around other side in unused lps of starting chain, sc in next 5 ch, dc in next 22 ch; working around last dc made and skipped ch-3, work 3 sc. (44 dc, 12 sc) Do not join.
Rnd 2:
Ch 3, dc in next 25 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sc, (2 sc, ch 3, sl st in first ch, 2 sc) in ch-2 sp, sc in next 2 sc, hdc in next sc, dc in next  25 sts, sl st in next st. Finish off and weave in ends.

Stems  (Make 10)
With largest hook and G, ch 40. Finish off and weave in ends.

Bells(Make 30)
Rnd 1 (Right Side): With smallest hook and W, leaving long end on starting ch, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc) DO NOT JOIN, MARK ENDS OF RNDS.
Rnd 2:2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3-5:Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6:Sl st in next sc, * ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hook, skip next sc, sl st in next sc; rep from * around. (6 "points") Finish off and weave in end. Pull long end through to right side, center top of bell. Tighten starting chain.

Finishing
Center and sew Leaves and Stems in place using large sewing needle and Black Crochet Cotton. Using long end, sew Bells onto Stem leaving a 1" length of yarn on the right side for Bells to hang.
