Size: About 42 x 72 inches. (104 Hexagon Blocks)

Materials:Worsted Weight Yarn:

Beige - 19 oz; Dark Red - 39 oz; Champagne - 2 oz.

Crochet Hook:Size D-3 (3.25 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:Each hexagonal block measures 6 inches in diameter from point to point.

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Cluster (cl):Keeping last lp of each dc on hook, 3 dc in st or sp indicated, yo, draw through all remaining lps on hook, ch 1(to fasten cluster).

2 dc Cluster (2-dc-cl):Keeping last lp of each dc on hook, 2 dc in st or sp indicated, yo, draw through all remaining lps on hook, ch 1(to fasten cluster).

A dainty flower-like design, suitable for the chaise longue in milady's boudoir, may be made in dainty pastels. Or if you prefer to use it elsewhere choose bolder colors.

Blocks are worked individually and then sewed together.

Hexagonal Block(Make 104)

Rnd 1:(Right Side) Starting at center, with Champagne, ch 6, (dc, ch 2) 5 times in 6th ch from hook; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-6.

Rnd 2:Ch 1, * 2 sc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next dc; rep from * around; join with sl st to first sc. (18 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 3:With right side facing, join Beige with sl st to any sc, * ch 11, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 7 ch, skip next 2 sc of previous md, sc in next sc (petal made); rep from * around, ending with sc in last sc. (6 petals)

Rnd 4:* Sc in base of next 8 dc of first petal, 3 sc in turning ch-3 sp of same petal, sc in next 8 dc; rep from * around; join with sl st to first sc. (19 sc per petal).

Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 5:With right side facing, join Dark Red with sc to center sc of 3-sc group of first petal (at tip of petal), 2 sc in same sc, * sc in next 8 sc, skip next

Assembly- use diagram as guide.

- Position blocks and half blocks as shown. Sew blocks together with whip-stitch on wrong side, picking up the top loops of each stitch.

EDGING

Rnd 1:With right side facing, join Beige with sc to beginning of first scallop, * evenly work 19 sc across the upward slope of scallop, sc in point, evenly work 19 sc across downward slope of same scallop, sc at the joining of this and next scallop; repeat from * around entire afghan (having enough sc across the straight sides so work lies perfectly flat); join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2:* Ch 3, skip next 3 sc, 5 dc in next sc (Shell) ch 3, skip next 3 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around; join. Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 3:With right side facing, join Dark Red with sl st to same sc as joining, ch 3, 4 dc in same sc, * ch 2, (sc, ch 4, sc) in center dc of next shell, ch 2, 5 dc in next sc; rep from * around, but omitting to make a Shell in the sc at joinings between blocks on scalloped sides, thus emphasizing scallop effect. Finish off and weave in ends.
