Stitch Repeat - Polka Dots

(Catherine Wheel Variant)

This stitch repeat can be worked with any size yarn. Use the hook size recommend for whatever yarn you choose.

Abbreviations
ch – chain
lp – loop
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
sk – skip
st – stitch
yo – yarn over

Background color – BC
Contrasting Color – CC

Special Stitches
Half Cluster (uses 4 sts): * yo, insert hook in next st, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * 3 times more, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook.
Cluster (uses next 7 sts): * yo, insert hook in next st, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * 6 times more, yo and draw through all 8 loops on hook.

POLKA DOT REPEAT PATTERN

Ch a multiple of 10 + 2 (minimum of 22 stitches)

Row 1: With BC, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, (skip next 3 ch, 7 dc in next ch, skip next 3 ch, sc in next 3 ch) across, ending with sc in last 2 ch. Change to CC.

Row 2: Ch 2, turn; Half Cluster, (ch 3, sc in next 3 sts, ch 3, Cluster) across to last 7 sts. Sc in next 3 sc, Ch 3, Half Cluster.

Row 3: Ch 2, turn, 4 dc in first st, (sc in next 3 sc, skip next ch-sp, 7 dc in Cluster) across, ending with 4 dc in last Cluster. Change to BC.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 2 sts, (ch 3, Cluster, ch 3, sc in next 3 sts) across, ending with sc in last 2 sts.

Row 5: Ch 2, turn; 4 dc in first st, (skip next sc, skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch, sc in next Cluster, sc in next ch, skip next 2 ch, skip next sc, 7 dc in next sc (middle sc of 3-sc group))across, ending with 4 dc in last sc. Change to CC.

Row 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 2 sts, (ch 3, Cluster, ch 3, sc in next 3 sts) across, ending with sc in last 2 sts.

Row 7: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 2 sc, (7 dc in Cluster, skip next Ch 3, sc in next 3 sc) across, ending with sc in last 2 sc. Change to BC

Row 8: Ch 2, turn; Half Cluster, (ch 3, sc in next 3 sts, ch 3, Cluster) across to last 4 sts, Ch 3, Half Cluster.

Repeat rows 3-8 until the project is the desired size.
