Mosaic Plaid Ripple

 

Skill: Intermediate

 

Materials: This stitch pattern can be worked with any weight of yarn - see the yarn label for the recommended hook size. 

We used:
 Worsted Weight Yarn: MC (white) and CC1 (CC2 and CC3 optional – continue using CC1 if you prefer to only have 2 colors)

Crochet Hook: Size J-10 (6.00 mm)

 

 

Abbreviations
CC - Contrasting Color
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
lp - loop
MC - Main Color
sc - single crochet
sl - slip
sp - space
st - stitch
yo - yarn over

Special Stitches

Single Crochet Decrease (sc dec): (Worked over 3 sts, unless otherwise indicated) Insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up lp, skip next st, insert hook in next st, yo and pull up lp, yo and pull through all 3 lps on hook.

Long double crochet (Ldc): Yo, insert hook from front to back in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up long lp, [yo and pull through 2 lps] twice.
Note: After working a long double crochet, continue work in next st as indicated. 

Edge long double crochet decrease (edg-Ldc dec): (worked over 2 sts) Yo, insert hook from front to back in st indicated, yo and pull up long lp, yo and pull through 2 lps, yo, insert hook from front to back in next st from first indicated, yo, and pull up long lp, yo and pull through 2 lps, yo and pull through all 3 lps on hook.

Long double crochet decrease (Ldc dec): (worked over 3 sts) Yo, insert hook from front to back in st indicated, yo and pull up long lp, yo and pull through 2 lps, yo, insert hook from front to back in 4th st from first indicated, yo, and pull up long lp, yo and pull through 2 lps, yo and pull through all 3 lps on hook.

Long double crochet/single crochet decrease (Ldc/sc dec): (worked over 2 sts) Yo, insert hook from front to back in st indicated, yo, and pull up long lp, yo and pull through 2 lps, Insert hook in st indicated, yo and pull up lp, yo and pull through all 3 lps on hook.

Single crochet/Long double crochet decrease (sc/Ldc dec): (worked over 2 sts) Insert hook in st indicated, yo and pull up lp, yo, insert hook from front to back in st indicated, yo, and pull up long lp, yo and pull through 2 lps, yo and pull through all 3 lps on hook.

 

Color Sequence:
Rows 1-2 – MC/White
Rows 3-4 – CC1/Orange; Rows 5-6 – MC/White;
Rows 7-8 – CC1/Orange; Rows 9-10 – MC/White
Rows 11-12 – CC2/Light Green; Rows 13-14 – MC/White
Rows 15-16 – CC2/Light Green; Rows 17-18 – MC/White
Rows 19-20 – CC3/Dark Green; Rows 21-22 – MC/White
Rows 23-24 – CC3/Dark Green; Rows 25-26 – MC/White
Repeat from Row 3 if desired.


With MC, ch a multiple of 12 + 2


Row 1: (Right Side) Sc dec (using 2nd and 3rd ch from hook), * sc in next 4 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts **, sc dec; rep from * across, ending last rep at **, sc dec (using last 2 ch).

Row 2 and All Even RowsCh 1, turn, sc in each st across; change yarn to next color in sequence.

Note: Do not cut White until the end, only cut other colors after Row 8 of pattern.

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, edg-Ldc dec (beg in 2nd foundation ch), * sc in next 2 sts, Ldc in 3rd foundation ch from prev Ldc, Ldc in next foundation ch, 3 sc in next st, Ldc (in same foundation ch as last Ldc made), Ldc in next foundation ch, sc in next 2 sts **, Ldc dec (beg in 3rd foundation ch from prev Ldc); rep from * across, ending last repeat at **, edge-Ldc dec (beg in 3rd foundation ch from prev Ldc).

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc/Ldc dec (beg in first sc of working row and in 3rd sc 3 rows below), Ldc in st next to prev Ldc, * sc in next 2 sts, Ldc in 3rd st from prev Ldc, 3 sc in next st, Ldc (in same st as prev Ldc), sc in next 2 sts, Ldc (in 3rd st from prev Ldc) **, Ldc dec (beg in next st from prev Ldc), Ldc (in next st from prev Ldc); rep from * across, ending last repeat at **, Ldc/sc dec (beg in st next from prev Ldc and last sc on working row).

Row 7: Ch 1, turn, sc first 2 sts tog, Ldc (in 4th sc 3 rows below), * Ldc (in st next to prev Ldc), sc in next 2 sts, 3 Ldc (in 3rd st from last prev Ldc), sc in next 2 sts, Ldc (in 3rd st from prev Ldc), Ldc (in st next to prev Ldc) **, sc dec (beg in next st), Ldc (in 6th st from prev Ldc); rep from * across, ending last repeat at ** , sc last 2 sts tog.

Row 9: Ch 1, turn, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in next st, Ldc (in 5th sc 3 rows below), * Ldc (in st next to prev Ldc), sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, sc in next st, Ldc (in 2nd st from prev Ldc), Ldc (in st next to prev Ldc), sc in next st **, sc dec (beg in next st), sc in next st, Ldc (in 8th st from prev Ldc); rep from * across, ending last repeat at ** , sc last 2 sts tog.

Row 11: Ch 1, turn, edg-Ldc dec (beg in 2nd st 3 rows below), * sc in next 2 sts, Ldc (in 3rd st from prev Ldc), Ldc (in next st from prev st), 3 sc in next st, Ldc (in same st as last prev Ldc), Ldc (in next st from prev st), sc in next 2 sts **, Ldc dec (beg in 3rd st from prev Ldc); rep from * across, ending last repeat at ** , edg-Ldc dec (beg in 3rd st from prev Ldc).

 

Repeat Rows 4-11 until your project reaches the desired size, ending with row 10. Finish off and weave in ends.
