Stitch Repeat - Long Single Crochet

(abb. Long-sc)

Skill level - Easy

This stitch repeat can be worked with any size yarn. Use the hook size recommend for whatever yarn you choose.

Abbreviations

ch – chain

lp – loop

sc – single crochet

sk – skip

st – stitch

yo – yarn over

JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

SPECIAL STITCH
Long Single Crochet (long-sc): Skip two previous rows, insert hook in sc in next row, pull up long lp, yo, draw through both lps on hook.

SINGLE COLOR

Ch a multiple of 4 +1
Row 1: (Right Side) Sc in 2^nd ch from hook, (sc in next ch) across.
Row 2-4: Ch 1 and Turn, [sc in next sc] across.
Row 5: Ch 1 and Turn, sc in next 4 sc, long-sc in next sc, [sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc] 4 times, sc in last 3 sc.
Rows 6-7: Rep Rows 3-4.
Row 8: Ch 1 and Turn, sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc, [sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc] four times, sc in last 4 sc.

Rep Rows 3-8 until project is 2 rows short of being the desired size.
Next 2 rows: Ch 1 and Turn, [sc in next sc] across. Finish off and weave in ends.

EVERY ROW A DIFFERENT COLOR
The long-sc row is worked in the Main Color (MC) and the long sc is worked in the previous MC row. All other rows are worked in a random color and finished off at the end of the Row.
Row 1: (Right Side) With any color, ch 25, sc in 2^nd ch from hook, (sc in next ch) across. (24 sc) Finish off.
Row 2: Turn, with Light Blue, join with sc to first sc, [sc in next sc] across. (24 sc) Finish off.
Rows 3-4: Turn, with next color, join with sc to first sc, [sc in next sc] across. (24 sc) Finish off.
Row 5: Turn, with Light Blue, join with sc to first sc, sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc, [sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc] 4 times, sc in last 3 sc. (24 sc) Finish off.
Rows 6-7: Rep Rows 3-4.
Row 8: Turn, with Light Blue, join with sc to first sc, sc in next 2 sc, long-sc in next sc, [sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc] four times, sc in last 4 sc. (24 sc) Finish off.

Rep Rows 3-8 until project is 2 rows short of being the desired size.
Next 2 rows: Turn, with next color, [sc in next sc] across. Finish off and weave in all ends.
