Beachy Waves

 

Skill: Intermediate



Materials: This stitch pattern can be worked with any weight of yarn - see the yarn label for the recommended hook size. You will need three colors: MC (white), CC1 (blue), and CC2 (green).
We used: Worsted Weight yarn and a size H-8 (5.00 mm) hook.

 

 

Abbreviations
CC - Contrasting Color
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
lp - loop
MC - Main Color
sc - single crochet
sl - slip
sp - space
st - stitch
yo - yarn over

JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

 

Special Stitches
Front Post Treble: (FPtr):
 Yo hook twice, insert hook from front to back to front around the post of indicated st, yo hook, pull up lp, [yo hook, pull through 2 lps] 3 times.
Unless noted otherwise, always skip the st behind the FPtr.

 

With MC, ch a multiple of 8 + 2


Row 1:
 (Right Side) Sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (multiple of 8 +1 stitches) Finish off and weave in ends.


Row 2:
 Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn, [dc in next sc] across, change color to CC1, drop MC – do not finish off.


Row 3:
 (Right Side) With CC1, ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, [skip 3 sc on 2 rows down, 3 FPtr around next sc 2 rows down, skip 3 dc on current row, sc in next dc on current row, 3 FPtr around same sc 2 rows down, skip next 3 dc on current row, sc in next dc on current row] across. Finish off CC1 and weave in ends.


Row 4:
 With right side facing, pick up dropped MC through first sc, ch 3, [dc in next st] across. Drop MC.


Row 5:
 With right side facing, join CC2 with sc in first dc; [skip 3 sc on 2 rows down, 3 FPtr around next sc 2 rows down, skip 3 dc on current row, sc in next dc on current row, 3 FPtr around same sc 2 rows down, skip next 3 dc on current row, sc in next dc on current row] across. Finish off CC2 and weave in ends.


Row 6:
 (Wrong side) Pick up dropped MC, ch 3, turn, [dc in next st] across, change to CC1, drop MC.

 

Rep Rows 3-6 until project reaches desired size, ending with Row 3 or 5. Finish off and weave in ends.
