Scrapbook Hearts
Skill Level: Easy
Size: Using our template, about 5.5” square
Materials: 2 strands of Size 10 thread or single strand of Size 3
Yarn Needle, Mini Hole Punch

Crochet Hook: B-1 (2.25mm) hook

Abbreviations
ch – chain
rnd - round
sc – single crochet
sk - skip
sl st – slip stitch
sp - space

Directions
1. Cut out the template below. Trace to posterboard or cardstock and cut out.
2. Lay template on wrong side of scrapbook paper. Trace and cut out.
3. Use double-sided tape to tape wrong side cardstock heart to wrong side of scrapbook heart. Mark placement of holes and punch them out.
4. If you want a message on your heart, write it now, being sure to stay away from the edges.

If you choose to use a different sized heart, you will have to measure out your own holes. Be sure there is one hole right under the “dip” in the top center of the heart and another right above the point at the bottom. Space the rest of the holes evenly, approximately a ¼” apart and ¼” away from the edge.

Heart Edging
Rnd 1: Join with a sc to any hole, ch 2, [sc in the next hole, ch 2] to bottom of heart, [sc in hole at bottom of heart, ch-2] four times, [sc in the next hole, ch 2] around, join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, [3 sc in next ch-2 sp] around, join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, [sc in next sc, ch 4, sk next sc] to top center of heart, [sc in next sc, sk next sc,] twice, [sc in next sc, ch 4, sk next sc] around, join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off, weave in ends.

 

HEART TEMPLATE

 

When you print this heart, it should measure 4.75 inches across at the widest point.
