PATRIOTIC STRIPED SCARF

 

Easy Skill

 

Size: About 6" wide and 48" long (excl. Fringe).

 

 

Materials: Premier® Yarns – Deborah Norville Collection – Serenity® Chunky Weight and Serenity® Baby

 

 

For Scarf:

Bulky Weight Yarn :

Berry Burst - 50yds

Cloud Dancer - 110yds

Amparo Blue - 35yds

For Star:

Worsted Weight Yarn :

White - 16yds

Additional Materials: Yarn Needle.

Crochet Hooks:

For Scarf: Deborah Norville size J-10 (6.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

For Star: Deborah Norville size I-9 (5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:  With J-hook - 5dc = 2"; 3 rows dc = 2".

 

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

 

SCARF

Row 1: (Right Side) With White, ch14, dc in 4th ch from hook [dc in next ch] across. (12dc)

Row 2: Ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across, changing color to Red in last dc. (12dc)

Row 3: With Red, ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across. (12dc)

Row 4: Ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across, changing color to White in last dc. (12dc)

Row 5: With White, ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across. (12dc)

Row 6: Ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across, changing color to Blue in last dc. (12dc)

Row 7: With Blue, ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across. (12dc)

Rows 8-9: Ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across. (12dc)

Row 10: Ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across, changing color to White in last dc. (12dc)

Row 11: With White, ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across. (12dc)

Rows 12-43: Rep Rows 2-5 eight times.

Rows 44-49: Rep Rows 6-11 once.

Rows 50-53: Rep Rows 2-5 once.

Row 54: Ch3, turn, [dc in next dc] across. (12dc) DO NOT FINISH OFF.

 

Edging

Row 55: Ch1, turn, 3sc in first dc, [sc in next dc] across to last dc, 3sc in last dc, *working in sides of rows, [2sc in each row] across*; working in unused lps on other side of starting ch, 3sc in first ch, [sc in next ch] across to last ch, 3sc in last ch; rep from *to* once; join with slst to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

STAR (Make 4)

Rnd 1: (Right Side) Using WW yarn, ch2, 5sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with slst to first sc. (5sc)

Rnd 2: [Ch3, slst in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, slst in next sc on Rnd1] around. Finish off leaving long end.

Using photo as guide, with right sides facing, using long end and yarn needle, sew 2 Stars to each Blue stripe on Scarf.

 

FRINGE

Using Blue, cut 14 pieces 12" long. With wrong side of Scarf facing, working across ends in sc-sts, fold one 12" piece in half, insert crochet hook, draw folded end up through stitch and pull the loose ends through the folded end; draw the knot up tightly. Repeat across. Lay flat on hard surface and trim ends.
