Easy Skill

 

Sizes:

Small - About 15" circumference.

Medium – About 19" circumference.

Large – 24" circumference.

 

Materials: Premier® Yarns – Deborah Norville Collection – Serenity® Chunky Weight and Serenity® Baby

 

For Hat:

Bulky Weight Yarn :

Berry Burst - 70yds

Cloud Dancer - 70yds

Amparo Blue - 50yds

For Star:

Worsted Weight Yarn :

White - 12yds

 

Abbreviations

beg - beginning

CC - contrasting color

ch - chain

dc - double crochet

hdc - half double crochet

lp(s) - loop(s)

MC - main color

rem - remaining

rep - repeat

rnd - round

sc - single crochet(s)

sp(s) - space(s)

slst(s) - slip stitch(es)

st(s) - stitch(es)

tr - treble crochet

Additional Materials: Yarn Needle.

Crochet Hook:

For Hat: Deborah Norville size J-10 (6.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

For Star: Deborah Norville size I-9 (5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:

With J-hook - 5dc = 2"; 3 rows dc = 2".

 

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

 

HAT

All Sizes

Rnd 1: (Right Side) With White, ch5, join with slst to first ch to form ring; ch1, 12 dc in ring, changing color to Red in last dc; with Red, join with slst to first dc. (12dc)

Rnd 2: With Red, ch1, 2dc in same st as joining, [2dc in next dc] around, changing color to White in last dc, with White, join with slst to first dc. (24dc)

Rnd 3: With White ch1, 2dc in same st as joining, dc in next dc, [2dc in next dc, dc in next dc] around, changing color to Red in last dc, with Red, join with slst to first dc. (36dc)

 

Medium & Large Sizes

Rnd 4: With Red, ch1, 2dc in same st as joining, dc in each of next 2 dc, [2dc in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc] around, changing color to White in last dc, with White, join with slst to first dc. (48dc)

Large Size Only

Rnd 5: With White ch1, 2dc in same st as joining, dc in each of next 3 dc, [2dc in next dc, dc in each of next 3 dc] around, changing color to Red in last dc, with Red, join with slst to first dc. (60dc)

Medium Size Only

Rnd 5: With White ch1, dc in same st as joining, [dc in next dc] around, changing color to Red in last dc, with Red, join with slst to first dc. (48dc)

 

All Sizes

Rnd 4 (6, 6): With Red, ch1, dc in same st as joining, [dc in next dc] around, changing color to White in last dc, with White, join with slst to first dc. (36, 48, 60dc)

Rnd 5 (7, 7): With White ch1, dc in same st as joining, [dc in next dc] around, changing color to Red in last dc, with Red, join with slst to first dc. (36, 48, 60dc)

Rnds 6-9 (8-11, 8-11): Rep Rnds 4-5 (6-7, 6-7) twice.

Rnd 10 (12, 12): Rep Rnd 4 (6, 6).

Rnd 11 (13, 13): With White ch1, dc in same st as joining, [dc in next dc] around, changing color to Blue in last dc, with Blue, join with slst to first dc. (36, 48, 60dc) Finish off White and Red and weave in ends.

Rnds 12-15 (14-17, 14-17): With Blue ch1, dc in same st as joining, [dc in next dc] around; join with slst to first dc. (36, 48, 60dc)

At end of Rnd 15 (17, 17), finish off and weave in ends.

 

STAR (Make 3)

Rnd 1: (Right Side) Using WW yarn, ch2, 5sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with slst to first sc. (5sc)

Rnd 2: [Ch3, slst in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, slst in next sc on Rnd1] around. Finish off leaving long end.

Using photo as guide, with right sides facing, using long end and yarn needle, sew Stars to Blue stripe on Hat.
