Father's Day Hat

Easy Skill

 

Size: To fit standard size Adult.

Finished size circumference: Small – 16"; Medium – 20"; Large – 21½", XLarge – 24".

 

Materials: Premier® Yarns - Deborah Norville Wool Naturals – used in model.

 

Worsted Weight Yarn :  For each Hat:

Sand – 1.75oz, 100yds (50g, 92)

 

Abbreviations

beg - beginning

ch - chain

dc - double crochet

lp(s) - loop(s)

rem - remaining

rep - repeat

rnd - round

sc - single crochet(s)

sp(s) - space(s)

slst(s) - slip stitch(es)

st(s) - stitch(es)

yo - yarn over

 

Additional Materials: Yarn Needle.

 

Crochet Hook: Size J-10 (6.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

 

Gauge: Rnds 1-2 = 3".

 

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

 

HAT (all sizes)

Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at top, with MC, ch4, slst in first ch to form ring; ch1, 12dc in ring; join with slst to first dc. (12dc)

Rnd 2: Ch1, [2dc in next dc] around; join as before. (24dc)

Rnd 3: Ch1, [2dc in next dc, dc in next dc] around; join with slst to first dc. (36dc)

Rnd 4: Ch1, [2dc in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc] around; join with slst to first dc. (48dc)

 

Small Size Only

Rnds 5-6: Ch1, [dc in next dc] around; join as before. (48dc)

At end of Rnd 6, mark last dc worked.

Rnd 7: Ch1, dc in same st as joining, dc in each of next 2 dc, working over dc-sts just worked, dc in marked st, [skip next dc, dc in each of next 3 dc, dc in skipped dc] around; join with slst to first dc. (48dc)

Rnds 8-9: Ch1, [dc in next dc] around; join as before. (48dc)

Rnds 10-12: Rep Rnds 7-9.

Rnd 13: Ch1, slst in each dc around. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

Medium Size Only

Rnd 5: Ch1, [2dc in next dc, dc in each of next 3 dc] around; join with slst to first dc. (60dc)

Rnds 6-7: Ch1, [dc in next dc] around; join as before. (60dc)

At end of Rnd 7, mark last dc worked.

Rnd 8: Rep Rnd 7 of Small Size.

Rnds 9-10: Rep Rnds 8-9 of Small Size.
