Green (MC) - 28 oz, 980 yds;
Red (R) - 10 oz, 350 yds;
White (W) - 10 oz, 350 yds.

Crochet Hook:Size G-6 (4.25 mm)

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Long Single Crochet (L-sc):Insert hook at base of st indicated 2 rows down, draw lp through to height of row in work, yo, draw through both lps on hook.

RUG
Row 1:
(Right Side) Starting at short end, with MC, ch 82, sc in 2nd ch from hook, (sc in next ch) across. (81 sc)
Row 2:Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Row 3 (Pattern Row):Ch 1, turn, sc in next sc, * L-sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * across.
Rows 4-6:Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

Rep Rows 3-6 until Rug measures 36 inches, ending with Row 5 and having and even number of Pattern Rows. Finish off and weave in ends.

Woven Stripes (woven across width)
Cut 5 strands R, each 2 yards long. Draw strands through first L-sc of first Pattern Row, * skip next L-sc on 2nd Pattern Row, draw strand through next L-sc, skip next L-sc on first Pattern Row, draw strands through next L-sc; rep from * across. Turn. Work back in the same manner, drawing strands through the L-sc skipped on both Pattern Rows. Fasten ends securely on wrong side.

Cut 5 strands of W, each 2 yards long and weave a White stripe through L-sc of second and third Pattern Rows as before.

Weave stripes in this manner, alternating colors and ending with a Red stripe.

Edging
With right side facing, join MC with sc to first st on short side, * ch 2, skip next st, sc in next st; rep from * across, working along long side, closely work sc in sides of rows (keeping work flat). Work other 2 sides to correspond; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

FRINGE
* Cut 10 strands of MC, each 10 inches long. Fold strands to form loop. Insert hook in ch-2 lp and draw loop through, draw loose ends through loop and pull up tightly. Repeat from * in each ch-2 lp across short sides. Trim ends evenly.
