With right side facing and working over unused ch-2 lps of starting ch, join MC with a sl st in any ch-2 lp, ch 1, (shell in next lp, sl st in next lp, ch 1) around. Finish off. (31 shells)

Tie
With larger hook and CC, ch 300 and finish off. Weave through Rnd 1 with ends beginning and ending at a marked increase.

Fringe
Cut a piece of cardboard 3" wide x 5" long. Wind yarn loosely around the cardboard lengthwise until full. Cut across one end; repeat with MC as needed.
Hold together 4 strands; fold in half. Working in ch-4 lps of Rnd 56, with wrong side of poncho facing and using a crochet hook, draw the folded end up through a space and pull the loose ends and yarn tails through the folded end; draw the knot up tightly. Repeat for fringes in ch-4 lps of Rnd 56.

Lay flat on hard surface and trim ends.

Maggie Suggests: Try this pattern with sport weight yarn for a larger children's size or worsted weight for an adult size.
