BABY DOLL CHECK AFGHAN

Easy Skill

Size: Afghan about 9 inches by 12 inches; Pillow about 3½ inches square.

Materials: Sport Weight Yarn: Pink (P) and White (W) - 1 oz each.

Yarn Needle;

White Felt - 6" square for Pillow

Crochet Hook:Size F-5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:12 dc = 2½ inches; 5 rows = 2 inches 

Abbreviations 

beg - beginning
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
lp - loop
rem - remaining
rep - repeat
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sp - space
st - stitch
yo - yarn over

 

AFGHAN

Row 1:(Right Side) Starting at bottom, with Pink, ch 39, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first dc), dc in next 2 ch; * change to W, with W, dc in next 4 ch; change to P, with P, dc in next 4 ch; rep from * across, end with P. (5 Pink Blocks and 4 White Blocks)

Row 2:With P, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn, dc in 3 dc; change to W, * with W, dc in next 4 dc; change to P, with P, dc in next 4 dc; change to W; rep from * across, end with W.

Row 3:With W, ch 3, turn, dc in next 3 dc, * change to P; with P, dc in next 4 dc; change to W, with W, dc in next 4 dc; rep from * across. (5 White Blocks and 4 Pink Blocks)

Row 4:With W, ch 3, turn, dc in next 3 dc; change to P, with P, * dc in next 4 dc; change to W, with W, dc in next 4 dc; change to P, rep from * across, end with P.

Row 5:With P, ch 3, turn, dc in next 3 dc; change to W, with W, dc in next 4 dc; change to P, with P, dc in next 4 dc; rep from * across, end with P.

Rows 6-21:Rep Pattern Rows 2-5 four times.

Row 22:Rep Pattern Row 2. DO NOT FINISH OFF PINK. Finish off White and weave in ends.

 

Afghan Border

Rnd 1:With P, ch 3, turn, with right side facing, working in Row 22, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in first dc, dc in each dc across to last dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in last dc, * working in sides of rows, 2 dc over each dc across *, working in unused lps of starting ch, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in first ch, dc in each ch across to last ch, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc)in last ch; rep from * to * once; join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 2:Ch 3, DO NOT TURN, dc in each dc around, working, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in every corner ch-2 sp; join. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

PILLOW

Front

Row 1:(Right Side) Starting at bottom, with Pink, ch 14, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first dc), dc in next 2 ch; change to W, with W, dc in next 4 ch; change to P, with P, dc in next 4 ch. (2 Pink Blocks and 1 White Block)

Rows 2-5:Rep Pattern Rows 2-5.

Row 6:Rep Pattern Row 2. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

Back

Row 1:(Right Side) Starting at bottom, with Pink, ch 14, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first dc), (dc in next ch) across. (12 dc)

Rows 2-6:Ch 3, turn, (dc in next dc) across.

At the end of Row 6, finish off and weave in ends.

 

Pillow Assembly

- Cut three 3" squares of felt. 

Pillow Border

Rnd 1:With wrong sides of Front and Back together, matching rows, andright side of Front facing, working in Row 6, join P with sl st to first dc, ch 1, 3 sc in same st, (sc in next) dc across to last dc, 3 sc in last dc, * working in sides of rows, evenly work 10 sc *, working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 sc in first ch, (sc in next dc ) across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch, INSERT FELT SQUARES, rep from * to *; join with sl st to first sc. (52 sc)

Rnd 2:Ch 1, sc in each sc around, working 3 sc in each corner sc; join. (64 sc)
