Ingredients:
1 c. butter
3/4 c. packed dark brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. dark molasses
1/2 c. nonfat dry milk
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 C. wheat germ
1 c. whole wheat flour
1-1/2 c. white unbleached flour
jelly (I used strawberry)
granulated sugarCream butter and
brown sugar with an electric mixer until smooth and light.
Beat in egg until fluffy. Add molasses and dry milk; beat
well. Blend in baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon, ginger
and wheat germ; beat 1 minute. Sift flour. Add flour
to butter mixture until well
blended. Form dough into 1-1/2" round balls. Roll
ball in
granulated sugar and place on well greased cookie sheet.
Flatten balls with the palm of your hand to about 3/8" thick.
Make a round indentation in the middle with the back of a
round measuring teaspoon. Place a teaspoon of jelly in the
center of each cookie. Bake on 375 degrees for 12-14 minutes. |
