Kay
Jones has loved to crochet for as long as she can remember.
The very first garment that she ever made was a trouser suit
in a shell pattern; which had flared sleeves and lower legs!
It was not an original Kay design. She had no idea what
would happen in the years to come!
Over the years Kay made all sorts of
items and then decided that she would like to take her
crochet skills to the next level. So after spending many
hours each evening learning, not only advanced Crochet
techniques, but also the mathematics behind it all and the
way that Crochet works; she passed her exams to become a
qualified teacher. Kay has been teaching for many years now
and still loves it! Much of her work has been published by
Sirdar - a firm that she say’s she will be eternally
grateful. “They gave me a lot of confidence which I lacked
at the time” – Kay. Many designs have also been published in
'My Weekly' and 'Crafts Beautiful' magazines in the UK.
Kay will rarely mention that a few
years ago she was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer. Through the
help and support of her pupils and husband she overcame that
awful time in her life. “I don't know what I would have done
without them and also not forgetting my wonderful husband
who is always there for me” – Kay.
Kay now designs for her website and of
course, her pupils. “They say to me - Please Kay can you
design so and so for me? They keep me on my toes!”
“Crochet is my World! I have met such a
lot of super people” – Kay.
Kay is a fairly new designer to
Maggie’s Crochet and has designed these gorgeous patterns -
Bethany Beaded Crop Top, Madison Ave. Sweater and the
Adrianna Sleeveless Top & Shawl!!!!!
