Designer Guidelines

Would you like to make money with your original crochet designs?
If you have created a design that is original, new, unique and totally your own, you can possibly sell it for some extra income! Seeing your name in print is always nice too!! We can help with your pattern writing if you need it.


NEW OFFER
We have started a new designer pay system. If your original design is chosen for publication you will receive a $100 to $200 advance on royalties and 10-20% of all retail and wholesale sales for 2 years! Projects are similar in size to Easter Pockets Afghan, Baxter Bunny, Ernie & Ester Bunnies, Chunky Monkeys, Ripple Cape, Shell Edged Jacket. Royalties will be paid quarterly.

Please Read The Following Designer Guidelines:

*Designs must be completely original and never previously published*

*Please send or email photographs -
Send or email clear, good-quality color photographs of the item first - designdepartment@maggiescrochet.com. Do not send samples unless requested. Photos should show front, back, and any special detail views. Include information on yarn, thread and any other materials used. Also, include hook size(s) and finished size(s) of item or garment. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of photos. Please include a daytime phone number and your desired fee for each submission.

*Send or Email Sample Pattern -
Send a sample of a pattern so we can see your style of writing. See "About The Instructions" below.

*Send Items ONLY UPON REQUEST -
Only upon request, actual items should be sent for final review. Please include your full address to expedite the return of your samples.


If Design is Accepted:
If item is accepted, we will contact you regarding fees. We then will require submission of the completed item together with complete instructions including all relevant charts, graphs and schematics. We will send you a contract to sign. Payment will be made 14 days after Maggie’s Crochet receives signed contract.

If Design Is Not Accepted:
If item is not accepted, we will return all materials to you. Please do not get discouraged, try again next time!


About The Instructions - Instructions Should Be:

*Typed, preferably on Word or other word processing program, double spaced, or legibly written, on one side of the page only.

*Specify materials, type of yarn used, total amount of yarn needed, color/s, size of crochet hook/s. Include any miscellaneous materials such as buttons, ribbon, embroidery thread, etc.


*Specify stitches used (including a full explanation of any non-standard stitches); measurements of finished items; for garments-size of pattern and gauge (including adjustments in directions for making larger or smaller sizes).

*Directions should be complete to the smallest detail and written following the format of Maggie’s Crochet. See format of "Free Patterns" on the Maggiescrochet.com web site.

*Diagrams are not mandatory but are helpful. They should be neatly drawn and clearly labeled.

*Pattern on emailed or mailed on a disc is helpful but not mandatory.

*Please check final typed or handwritten copy to be sure that all numbers are correct and nothing has been omitted.

*We can help with your pattern writing if you need it.
