Before the invention of plastic handles and asbestos oven mitts, removing hot pans or kettles from a stove could be hazardous. Pot holders – came to the rescue!
Colorful hand crochet potholders became a creative kitchen staple during the 1940’s and 1950’s. Now you can create some nostalgic looking potholders reminiscent of the ones our mothers and grandmothers used to make with this delightful book of “Vintage Fashion Potholders”.
All nine designs are crocheted using sport weight cotton yarn. If you can’t find the sport weight yarn, you may substitute two strands of bedspread-weight cotton thread (size 10). The dress designs can also be used to cover small dish soap bottles.
