Granny Square Mini Christmas Stocking

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn:

            Green & White.

Yarn Needle.

 

Crochet Hook: Size G-6 (4.25 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

 

Abbreviations
beg - beginning
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
lp - loop
rem - remaining
rep - repeat
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sp - space
st - stitch
tr - treble crochet
yo - yarn over

 

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Granny Square - 5 Sided

Rnd 1:(Right Side) Starting at center, with White, ch 5, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 3 dc in ring, ch 2, [4 dc in ring, ch 2] 4 times; join with sl st to first dc. (Join all rnds in this manner.) (20 dc) Finish off White and weave in ends.

Rnd 2:With right side facing, join Green with sl st to any ch-2 sp, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in same sp, ch 1, * (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next sp, ch 1; rep from * 3 times more; join. (40 dc) Finish off Green and weave in ends.

Rnd 3:With right side facing, join White with sl st to any ch-2 sp, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in same sp, ch 1, 4 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, * (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next sp, ch 1, 4 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * 3 times more; join. (60 dc) Finish off White and weave in ends. (60 dc)

 

Edging

Row 1:With right side facing, join Green with sl st to any ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, sc in each dc and sp across to next ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 8, sl st in last sc made (hanger), fold in half across row worked, matching remaining sides, working through both thicknesses, sc in same corner, sc in each dc and sp across to 'toe', sl st in last ch-2 sp. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

BOW

- Cut 10" strand of each color. Thread through center of block (Rnd 1) and tie in bow.
