Free Valentines Trivet and Coaster Set Pattern

       Surprise your loved one with this decorative trivet and coaster set. They are quick and easy to make with worsted weight yarn.

 Easy Skill

 Size: Coaster – 6 ½” in diameter

Trivet – 8 ½” in diameter

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn

   Red (MC) - 1 oz, 66 yds (28 grams, 60 meters)
   White (CC) - 12 yds (11 meters)
Yarn Needle.

Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: Rnds 1-2 = 3” in diameter

Abbreviations

Trivet

Rnd 1 (right side): With MC, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form a ring, ch 4 (counts as first dc, ch 1), (dc, ch 2, dc, ch 1) twice in ring, dc in ring, ch 2; join with a sl st to first dc. (6 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 5 (counts as first dc, ch 2, now and throughout), turn, skip next ch-2 sp, * 3 dc in next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp, 3 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next

ch-2 sp, rep from * once more, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp, 2 dc in same dc as joining; join with a sl st to first dc. (21 dc)

Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, 2 dc in same st as joining, dc in next 5 dc, 3 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, * 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 5 dc, 3 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, rep from * once more; join with a sl st to first dc. (33 dc)

Rnd 4: Ch 5, turn, skip next ch-2 sp, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, ** 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, rep from * once more, rep from * to **, dc in same st as first dc; join with a sl st to first dc. (42 dc)

Rnd 5: Turn, * skip next 3 dc, [(tr, ch 1) 7 times, tr] in next dc, skip next 3 dc, sl st in next ch-2 sp, rep from * around. (48 tr and 42 ch-1 sps) Finish off.

Rnd 6: With right side facing, join CC with a sl st in last ch-2 sp of Rnd 4, * working down the rnds, (ch 2,

sl st in ch-2 sp of next rnd) down to Rnd 1 ring, working back up rnds, (ch 2, sl st in ch-2 sp of next rnd) up to Rnd 4; working in ch-1 sps of Rnd 5, sc in first ch-1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 6 times, sc in next

ch-2 sp of Rnd 4, sc in next ch-1 sp of Rnd 5, (ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 6 times, sl st in next ch-2 sp of Rnd 4, rep from * twice more.  Finish off and weave in ends.

Coaster

Rnds 1-2: Rep Rnds 1-2 of Trivet.

Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 2 dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, rep from * once more; join with a sl st to first dc.  (30 dc)

Rnd 4: Do not turn, skip next dc, [(dc, ch 1) 5 times, dc] in next dc, skip next 2 dc, sl st in next ch-2 sp,

* skip next 2 dc, [(dc, ch 1) 5 times, dc] in next dc, skip next 2 dc, sl st in next ch-2 sp, rep from * around.

(36 dc and 30 ch-1 sps) Finish off.

Rnd 5: With right side facing, join CC with a sl st in last ch-2 sp of Rnd 3, * working down the rnds, (ch 2,
