Snowflake Coaster

Easy Skill

Size: 5" across.

Materials:Yarn Needle; Worsted Weight Yarn

Blue (MC) - 15 yds (14 m); White (CC) - 4 yds (4 m). 

Crochet Hook: Size I-9 (5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: Coaster Rnds 1-4 = 5" across.

 

 

Abbreviations

ch - chain
CC - contrasting color
dc - double crochet
lp - loop
MC - main color
rep - repeat
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sp - space
st - stitch
yo - yarn over

 

Special Stitches

Picot:Ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hook.

 

Coaster

Rnd 1:With MC, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 13 dc in ring; join with sl st to first dc. (14 dc)

Rnd 2:Ch 3, dc in first dc, 2 dc in each dc around; join with sl st to first dc. (28 dc)

Rnd 3:Ch 3, dc in first dc, dc in next dc, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next sp) around; join with sl st to first dc. (42 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 4:Join CC to any dc with sc, picot, (skip next dc, sc in next dc, picot) around; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

Snowflake

Rnd 1: With CC, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc. (6 sc)

Rnd 2:Ch 1, sc in first sc, ch 3, (sc in next sc, ch 3) around; join with sl st in first sc. (6 sc, 6 ch-3 lps)

Rnd 3:Sl st in ch-3 lp, ch 1, sc in same ch-3 lp, picot, (ch 1, picot) twice, (sc in next ch-3 sp, picot,

ch 1, picot, ch 1, picot) around; join with sl st in first sc. Finish off leaving long end.

- Using long end, sew Snowflake to center of Coaster.
