Rippled Macaroon Poncho

Misses Small – 48" around shoulders

Misses Large – 54" around shoulders

Plus Size 1X – 60" around shoulders

Plus Size 2X – 69" around shoulders

Note: The Directions are written for Misses size small, with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes.

Materials: Bulky Weight Yarn

Aquamarine – 6 ¼ (7, 8, 9 ¼) oz,

240 (268, 307, 355) yds, 175 (196, 224, 260) grams, 192 (215, 246, 284) meters,

Yarn Needle.

TLC® MacaroonTM was used for our model.

Crochet Hook:  Size N-13 (9 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:  One ripple = 3"

                2 pattern rnds = 4"

Gauge Swatch: 4" x 4"

Row 1: Ch 11, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 dc)
Rows 2-5: Ch 3, turn, dc in next dc and in each dc across. (9 dc)

Finish off at the end of Row 5.

Note: If your swatch is larger or smaller than specified, make another, changing hook size to get the correct gauge. If your swatch is too small, use a larger hook.  If your swatch is too large, use a smaller hook.  Keep trying until you find the size hook that will give you the specified gauge.

SMALL
Rnd 1:
Starting at the top, ch 48, being careful not to twist ch, sl st in first ch to form a ring, ch 1, sc in same st as joining, ch 5, skip 2 ch, (sc in next ch, ch 5, skip 2 ch) around; join with a sl st to first sc. (16 ch-5 sps)

LARGER SIZES (L, 1X, 2X)
Rnd 1:
Ch 48 (54, 54), being careful not to twist ch, sl st in first ch to form a ring, ch 1, sc in same st as joining, ch 5, skip next ch, (sc in next ch, ch 5, skip next ch)1 (1, 4) times, *(sc in next ch, ch 5, skip next 2 ch)* 3 (3, 2) times, rep to 1 (1, 3) times, rep * to * 3 (4, 2) times, rep to 2 (2, 4) times, rep * to * 3 (3, 2) times, rep to 1 (1, 3) times, rep * to * 3 (4, 2) times; join with a sl st to first sc. [18 (20, 23) ch-5 sps]

Rnd 3: Sl st in next 3 dc and ch-1 sp, sc in same ch-1 sp, ch 5, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 5) around; join with a sl st to first sc. [16 (18, 20, 23) ch-5 sps]
Rnd 4: Sl st in next ch-5 sp, ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), (3 dc, ch 1, 4 dc) in next ch-5 sp, (4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc) in each ch-5 sp around; join with a sl st to first dc. [16 (18, 20, 23) ripples]
Rnds 5-6: Rep Rnds 3-4.
Rnd 7: Sl st over to next ch-1 sp, sc in

Rnd 11: Sl st over to next ch-1 sp, sc in

Rnd 12: Sl st in next ch-7 sp, ch 3, (5 dc,
ch 2, 6 dc) in next ch-7 sp, (6 dc, ch 2, 6 dc) in each ch-7 sp around; join with a sl st to first dc. [16 (18, 20, 23) ripples] Finish off Small and Large only and weave in ends.

SIZES 1X & 2X ONLY
Rnds 13-14:
Rep Rnds 7-8.

At the end of Rnd 14, finish off and weave in ends.

Fringe

Cut a piece of cardboard 3" wide x 6" long. Wind Yarn loosely around the cardboard lengthwise until full. Cut across one end. Repeat as needed. Hold together 3 strands; fold in half. Working along edges of Poncho, with right side of Poncho facing and using a crochet hook, draw the folded end up through ch-1 sp of any ripple of last rnd and pull the loose ends and yarn tails through the folded end; draw the knot up tightly. Using picture as a guide, repeat for fringes in ch sps of ripples in last rnd. Lay flat on hard surface and trim ends.
