Seed Stitch Belt

 

 

Skill Level - Easy

Size: 51" long (not including fringe).

 

Materials:  Size 3 Crochet Cotton;

Rose (R) - 75 yd (68 m); White (W) and Pink (P) - 50 yd (45 m) each;

Yarn Needle; Cardboard 3" x 7".

 

Crochet Hook:Size G-6 (4.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

 

Gauge: Using 2 strands, 13 sc = 4".

 

Abbreviations

ch - chain

lp - loop

rep - repeat

sc - single crochet

sl st - slip stitch

sp - space

st - stitch

yo - yarn over


JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

 

BELT

USE 2 STRANDS.

Row 1 (Right Side):With R, ch 176, sc in second ch from hook, (ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch) across. (88 sc) Finish off.

Row 2:With wrong side facing, join W with sc to first sc, sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp) across, sc in last sc. (89 sc) Finish off.

Row 3:With right side facing, join P with sc in first sc, (ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp) across, sc in last sc. (88 sc) Finish off.

Row 4: With R, rep Row 2.

Row 5:With P, rep Row 3.

Row 6:With W, rep Row 2.

Row 7:With R, rep Row 3.

 

Fringe

Wind yarn loosely around the cardboard lengthwise until full. Cut across one end; repeat with B, O and G as needed. Hold together 3 stands of matching color; fold in half. Working across each end of rows, with wrong side of Belt facing and using a crochet hook, draw the folded end up through a space at end of row (Fig. 1) and pull the loose ends and yarn tails through the folded end (Fig. 2); draw the knot up tightly.

Repeat for fringes in each color section across ends of rows matching fringe with colors. Lay flat on hard surface and trim ends.
