Lace Cross

Size: 4-1/2” wide x 5” tall

Materials: Crochet Cotton Thread size 10 (12 yds each), small satin
Roses, Steel Crochet Hook #7,
Large Sewing Needle, Hot or Craft Glue.

Gauge: Rnd 1-3 = 2-3/4”
shell: 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc.

Rnd 1: Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st
in first sc.
Rnd 2: (Ch 15, sl st in next 2 sts) 3 times, ch 29, sl st in next st.
Rnd 3: * Working across next ch-15 lp, sc in next 4 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next ch, (2 dc, tr, ch 3, tr,
2 dc) in next ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next 4 ch; rep from * twice more, working across
next ch-29 lp, sc in next 3 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, dc in next 8 ch, (2 dc, tr, ch 3, tr, 2 dc) in next ch, dc in
next 8 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, sc in next 3 ch.
Rnd 4: * Working across next short arm, sl st in next
2 sts, (sc in next st, ch 4, skip next st) 4 times, (sc, ch 6, sc) in ch-3 sp, working around other side, (ch 4,
skip next st, sc in next st) 4 times, sl st in next 2 sts; rep from * twice more, working across next long
arm, sl st in next st, (sc in next st, ch 4, skip next st) 8 times, (sc, ch 6, sc) in ch-3 sp, working around
other side, (ch 4, skip next st, sc in next st) 8 times,
sl st in next st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Stiffening
Note: This method is permanent and will not wash out.

Place small amount of stiffener in plastic bag with Cross. Work stiffener into piece. Place plastic on
cardboard. Remove Cross from stiffener. Blot with a paper towel to remove excess from holes. Spread
arms of Cross and chain loops. With right side facing, pin Cross to plastic on cardboard shaping as seen
in photo. Allow to dry completely. Use a toothbrush to remove dried stiffener from finished Crosses.

Finishing
Glue Rose to center of cross.
