Crochet Pattern for Vintage Bibs & Booties

Over the years I have visited lots of antique shows and have collected many treasures, including crochet patterns for vintage items.  Generally I'm on the lookout for crocheted doilies and vintage crocheted potholders.  Sometimes I come across other things… like these booties and bibs.  They were each found at different shows and my heart melted when I saw them.  The one set of booties was recreated from an antique pair a friend brought in to show me.

The basis of all the pieces is the crochet pattern, white size 10 cotton crochet thread and a steel # 7 hook.  Pink, Blue and Yellow thread is used as the accents on the various pieces.  Ribbon and embroidered flowers are used to adorn them.  Instructions for the embroidery stitches Lazy Daisy and French Knots are included in the crochet pattern.

The size of the booties can be adjusted by using a different size hook.  My suggestion is to start by making one sole of a pair of booties.  Before you continue, measure the sole and see whether it will fit the baby.  If you need a bigger sole, make another one with a larger hook (or if you need a smaller one, use a smaller hook).  You can then compare the second sole to the first one you made to see how much the size increased (or decreased).  When the correct sole size is obtained, make a note of the hook used.  Remember to pull out the soles which were the incorrect size in this crochet pattern.

These Crochet Patterns are too cute to resist.
