While searching for treasures at the Antique Extravaganza in Mt. Dora Florida last fall, I came across this vintage crochet doily.  It was really plain looking without the roses so we added roses and leaves using DMC pearl cotton #5.   The curled crochet variegated roses and leaves really transformed what was a very drab doily into a gorgeous crochet masterpiece!

This doily is easy to recreate with our easy to follow crochet pattern.

7 Steps:
1.      Crochet seven hexagon motifs using a steel crochet hook and crochet cotton thread size 10.  Most of the stitches are double crochet and chains.  The skill is easy.
2.      With right sides facing, sew White Hexagon Motifs and center Pink Motif together, matching the 13 double crochet stitches along each side.
3.      Crochet a contrasting double crochet border around entire outside edge of doily.
4.      Using pearl cotton #5 and a larger crochet hook, crochet 6 roses. Curl Roses into shape.
5.      Using pearl cotton #5 and a larger crochet hook, crochet 6 leaves.
6.      Using long end and thread needle, tack Roses into shape; with right sides facing, sew Rose through center of Leaves to center of each White Motif.
7.      Starch if desired.
