Free Stephanie's Bear Pattern

An Original Design by:Maggie WeldonWe redid this adorable hat and collar set just for the Red Hat ladies!  We used Lion Brand Chenille yarn for our model. It is a quick and easy gift for friends and family of all ages!

Size:Hat - 6” across fits 8-10” Bears

Materials: Lion Brand Chenille Sport Weight Yarn - One skein each Violet (CC), and Red (MC),

1 yd – 4 mm Pearl Beads.

Hook:G-6 (4 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge:           4 Rows Sc = 1 inch

                        5 sc       = 1-1/2 inch 

Hat

Rnd 1:With MC, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring,

ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in ring; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3 (join all dc rnds in this manner).  (12 dc)

Rnd 2:(Ch 3, dc) in same st as joining, 2 dc in each st around; join. (24 dc)

Rnd 3:(Ch 3, dc) in same st as joining, dc in next 3 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts) around; join. (30 dc)

Rnds 4-5:Ch 3, dc in each st around; join.

Rnd 6:Ch 1, sc in same st as joining and in next 7 sts, draw up a lp in each of next 2 sts, YO and draw through 3 lps on hook (sc dec made),  (sc in next 8 sts, dec) twice; join with sl st in first sc.  (27 sc)

Rnd 7:Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in each st around; join. (54 dc)

Rnd 8:Ch 3, dc in each st around; join.

Rnd 9:(Ch 4, skip next st, sl st in next st) around. Fasten off and weave in ends. (27 lps)

Rose (Make 2 – 1 with MC and 1 with CC)

Ch 9, (4 sc, sl st) in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, (4 hdc, sl st) in next 5 ch. Fasten off and weave in ends. 

Curl into shape of Rose.

Collar

Row 1:With CC, ch 26, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook,

(dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch) 11 times. (36 dc)

Row 2:Ch 3, turn, dc in next 2 sts, (2 dc in next st,

dc in next 2 sts) 11 times. (47 dc)

Row 3:Ch 3, turn, skip next st, sl st in next st, (ch 3, skip next st, sl st in next st) across. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Ties:Join CC with a sl st on either side of starting ch, ch 25, fasten off and trim ends.  Repeat for opposite side. 

Finishing

Cut strand of Pearl Beads in half.  Tie each half into a Bow. Attach each Rose to center of Bow.  Attach CC Bow to hat and MC Bow to Collar.
