Materials:Light Worsted Weight Yarn:

            Off-White - 17.5 oz, 1610 yds (500g, 1470 m)

            Orange - 5.25 oz, 483 yds (150 g, 441 m)

            Green - 3.5 oz, 322 yds (100 g, 294 m)

            Yellow - 1.75 oz, 161 yds (50 g, 147 m)

(Used in model: Patons Astra - Aran Blanc Cassé, Maize Yellow; Bernat Softee Baby - Soft Fern, Tangerine)

Yarn Needle

Crochet Hook:

           For Age 3-6 months - Size E (3.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

           For Age 6-12 months - Size G (4.25 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:

          For smaller size - 9 dc = 2”; 4 rows dc = 2”

          For larger size - 8 dc = 2"; 4 rows dc = 2"

Sizes:Afghan - About 44" across at widest points;

          Outfit - to fit Ages 3-12 months.

My Design Inspiration:
For the first time in my 30 years of designing, I am clueless as to what my inspiration was for this pattern!  I can only say that the ripple design which radiates from the center out has always been one of my favorite classic crochet designs.  I also know that I wanted to crochet this baby layette with colors of yarn that were not the traditional baby colors.  The orange and lime green on a sea of off-white, seemed like a gorgeous color combination.   
To create this masterpiece I had lots of help from Vickie, my crocheter, who figured out the pattern repeats for each round of the afghan; Wendi, who wrote the pattern; Helen, who did the second testing; and my daughter Allison, who helped me choose the colors.  It takes a village to create a good crochet pattern.  I have the vision and they make it happen.

How It Is Made:
The layette is made using a Light Worsted Weight yarn. Colorful flower motifs join together to create the basis for the ripple. The pattern pack includes directions for afghan, jacket, hat and booties.
