Free Mini Christmas Stockings Pattern

Size:  Approximately 3” (5.5 cm) Tall

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn - Solid Stocking: 14  yds Red (R) and 8 yds White (W).  Stripe Stocking: 7 yds Red (R) and White (W) and 8 yds Green (G). Yarn Needle.

Crochet Hook:Size H (8 mm), or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:4 rows = 1” (2.5 cm)

Joining With a Sc - When instructed to join with sc, begin with a slip knot on hook. Insert hook in stitch or space indicated, YO and pull up a loop, YO and draw through both lps on hook.

To Change Colors - Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color YO and pull new color through remaining lps on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

Solid Color Stocking Directions    

Rnd 1 (right side): With R or G, ch 2, 6 sc in 2^nd ch from hook. (6 sc) DO NOT JOIN, MARK ENDS OF RNDS.

Rnd 2:2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3-7:Sc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 8:Ch 6, skip next 6 sts (for heel), sc in next 6 sts.

Rnd 9:Sc in each st and ch around. (12 sc)

Rnds 10-18:Sc in each st around. (12 sc)

At the end of Rnd 18, finish off.

Rnd 19:Wrong Side Facing join W in any st, ch 1, 2 sc in same st, sc in next 3 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts) twice. (15 sc)

Rnds 20-23:Sc in each st around.

At the end of Rnd 23, sl st in next st. Finish off.

Fold Cuff to right side.

Hanger - With inside center back top edge of stocking facing you, join W with a sl st in sc st at center back, ch 8, sl st in same st as joining. Finish off and weave in ends.

Heel

Rnd 1:With Right Side Facing, join W with a sc

(see Joining with a Sc above)in 3^rd skipped st of Rnd 7,

sc in next 3 sts, sc in side of next sc, working in unused lp of ch-6, sc in next 6 lps, sc in side of next sc, working in skipped sts of rnd 7, sc in next 2 sts; join with sl st in 1^st sc. (14 sc)

Rnd 2:(Ch 1, sc) in first st, sc in next st, draw up a lp in each of next 3 sc, YO and draw through

4 lps on hook (sc dec made), sc in next 4 sts,

sc dec, sc in next st; join with sl st in 1^st sc.

Finish off leaving long end.

Finishing

Working on right side, fold opening horizontally so that the sc dec sts are at opposite ends from each other. Using long end sew Heel closed matching sc sts of one side with sc sts of opposite side.

Striped Stocking Directions

Rnd 1 (right side): With R, ch 2, 6 sc in 2^nd ch from hook. (6 sc) DO NOT JOIN, MARK ENDS OF RNDS. Drop R and change to W.

Rnd 2:With W, 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc) Drop W; change to R.

Rnds 3-18:Rep Rnds 3-18 of Solid Stocking changing to alternate color at the end of each rnd.

At the end of Rnd 18, finish off R and W.

Rnds 19-23:With G, rep Rnds 19-23 of Solid Stocking.

With G, rep Heel and Hanger directions.
